With 19 credits crammed into a semester, one would think that I had time for little else. False! Instead of embracing my precious free time, I have instead taken on a part time job for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Consequently, I have even less free time and am just getting a chance to write about it now.
I really do enjoy my job. I am revisiting old programming languages and learning new ones. I love building maps and figuring out how to make them more appealing and useful. I am happy, despite sore eyes from staring at two 22-icnh monitors of code for four hours at a time. I am happy that I have found a job that I enjoy.
However,it is sad to say that I am officially in a semester where I dislike more classes than I enjoy. The workload has increased significantly and I'm essentially just keeping my head above water. I am not motivated because I am not enjoying the subjects and the assignments for the classes I do enjoy aren't the highest priority because they tend to be worth less and can be easily put off. I am excited about learning another new scripting language, I am excited to learn about Alexander the Great, and I am excited that I am going to Ireland, but there just seems to be too much to do and hardly any time to do it.
I know that many of my friends have been in this boat before and I feel like this is a more than common feeling shared by the majority of college students. I suppose it's all in how you handle it and stay organized. I'm sure I'll get the hang of managing it all eventually!
